Creating a New Ingredient

Information

The Information page provides titled fields and dropdown menus for inputting information pertaining to your ingredient.Not all fields are required, however it's best practice to add as much information as possible.


The Primary Qty. (Quantity) and Primary Measure fields Must be filled out in order to provide a Primary Grams measurement, which is required for all ingredients.


1. Enter all New Ingredient Information in the provided fields.


2. To add an image to your ingredient, click the camera icon and select one of the following options:


3. When complete, click Nutrients in the navigation menu on the right. Note that you can save your progress at any time by clicking Save Progress at the top of the page. 



Nutrients

The Nutrient page provides fields for entering the nutritional values of your ingredient per serving (as set on the Information page) or per 100 grams, entering daily value percentages for vitamin content and calculates the value of each nutrient per 100 grams when entered Per Serving. Allergens associated with the ingredient are added here.


4. Enter the Nutrient Values per serving for your ingredient.


Or, If No nutrient values are provided for this ingredient, check the provided box.


5. If the ingredient has No known allergens, check the provided box.


Or, if an ingredient does include known allergens, click Add New Allergen.


6. Select how the allergen and ingredient are associated, such as the ingredient Contains or is Manufactured in a facility that uses... :


The selected association creates a dropdown menu that is used to select the specific allergen associated with the ingredient. In the following example, the ingredient Contains the allergen:


7. Click the dropdown menu and select the allergen from the list:

NOTE: Allergens and Diet Restrictions available here may first need to be entered in to MealTime on the Allergens & Diet Restrictions page located in Nutrition & Menu > Settings. 


Once selected, the allergen label is displayed within the dropdown menu:


If the ingredient has more than one allergen associated with it and is associated in the same manner, such as Contains, click the dropdown menu again and select the additional allergen:

To remove a selected allergen from the dropdown menu, click X on the allergen label.


If the ingredient has more than one allergen associated with it and the association is different, such as Manufactured in a facility that processes..., click Add New Allergen and repeat steps 6 and 7 above:


To remove the allergen association dropdown menu bar completely, click the Trashcan icon.


8. Click Save Progress or, if you are ready to publish your ingredient, click Save & Publish at the top of the page. Click Cancel to cancel.



Recipes

The Recipes page provides a listing of all recipes using this ingredient. The date the recipe was created, when it was published, last served and total served information are also provided and can be used to sort the list. 


Clicking on a recipe in the list takes you to that recipe's page.



History

The History page provides a listing of changes made to the ingredient since it was first created and can be sorted by Date/Time, Description and User. When changes have been made to an ingredient a blue dot is displayed to the right of the History button in the navigation menu to notify users.


Each entry in the list provides the ability to compare the changed ingredient values to it's previous values.


To see a comparison of changes, click the Compare button:
