When looking at any report showing meal counts, it's important to understand exactly how these meals are counted, and different meal count reports derive their count data in different ways.
For example, the Monthly Operation Summary derives its count from the Meal Count report and the Daily Operation Summary derives its counts from the Meal Count by Location report.
The Difference
•The Meal Count and Monthly Operation Summary reports are reporting counts only for students enrolled at that school.
•The Meal Count by Location and Daily Operation Summary report are reporting all meals served at that location regardless of where the student is enrolled.
If the school is part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), then meal counts will always be recorded for the school that served the meal. Simply put, no matter where a student eats, the school that served the meal gets the meal count.
If the district is not part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), then the Meal Count and Monthly Operation Summary function differently. This is controlled by a setting called Always Record by Enrollment School.
Having the Always Record by Enrollment School box checked means that no matter where a student eats, the count for that meal will show for the school where they are enrolled.
The Always Record by Enrollment School setting is located in the POS Station settings section of the District Meal Service Settings page. |
IMPORTANT NOTES
When Always Record by Enrollment School is CHECKED: |
The Transaction Audit report does NOT indicate visitor transactions. |
Multiple Schools on one Campus: |
The above information is based on each school being set up on it's own Campus. You can potentially have multiple schools assigned to a single Campus. In this case, you could have two or more schools worth of meal counts show up on your Meal Count by Location and Daily Operations Summary reports. The Meal Count and Monthly Operations Summary reports will always report on a school-by-school basis regardless. |
Provision 2 or CEP (Community Eligibility Program): |
If a school has Provision 2 or CEP settings enabled, the State Reimbursement Claim report will reflect a count that is based on the count percentage that is set for that school. |
