How MealTime Works

MealTime is a wholly browser-based program, hosted by our datacenter, and available to use with a wide range of PC types and capabilities.  If client PCs can successfully negotiate a connection to the internet with a capable browser, the MealTime program will be available for use.  Adobe Reader and Microsoft Excel may also be installed if desired for added report/export functionality.

Tested Environments and Support

MealTime is thoroughly tested in up-to-date Windows 10 environments using Google’s Chrome browser.  Though the program may be used with other browsers, in other operating systems, and on other devices, MealTime works best when used on standard Windows PCs within Google Chrome Browser.  Other devices and operating systems, including Android, iOS, OSX, and Linux may be supported with caveats, limitations or on a “best effort” basis.

Google Chrome Web Browser System Requirements

Reports, settings, and administrative tasks may be accessed in MealTime through all the most popular web browsing programs like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox. However, the MealTime Point of Sale meal service module requires a browser with advanced features.  For this reason, we require Google’s Chrome browser to be installed on all point-of-sale PC stations. IT administrators should install Chrome for all PC users. *

Google's system requirements can be found here: https://support.google.com/chrome/a/answer/7100626?hl=en

Additionally: Google provides this alternative installation method which will allow an administrator to install the Chrome browser once for all users on a PC. https://www.google.com/intl/en/chrome/?standalone=1

"Supported” means recent testing has taken place and there are no known problems when the device is used according to manufacturer specifications.  MealTime Support can provide technical help and education in the majority of cases upon request.

“Best Effort” means testing has taken place in the past, and there are no known major problems when the device is used according to manufacturer specifications, but caveats likely exist.  MealTime Support may be limited in its ability to provide a high level of technical help and education upon request.

“Unsupported” means testing has taken place in the past, and there are known problems when used according to manufacturer specifications.  We do not recommend you attempt to use an unsupported device, and MealTime Support will be unable to provide assistance in these cases.

NOTE: Some PCs, especially “low power” devices like tablet PCs may not supply enough power over USB to support your desired peripheral.  For best results, please refer to your device specifications to ensure that available USB ports can supply at least a 500mA current.

NOTE: For optimum performance with POS stations, we recommend a wired ethernet connection instead of WIFI.
