Launching the POS Console in MealTime opens a till for meal service. POS Console requires the use of Chrome Web Browser.

Open the POS Console

1. Navigate to Point of Sale > POS Console > Meal Service.

2. Click Launch POS.

3. Select a POS Station* and *Serving Period from the dropdown menus:

Your previously used POS Station and Serving Period may be displayed when opening POS Console.

If the selected MealTime POS Station has an open Till that has not yet been counted, you will continue to use that same Till, adding to the expected total with every transaction. The till will remain open until you choose to close and count it or at the end of the day it will go into a waiting state. If the district chooses to open a till on Monday and close it after the final meal service on Friday, MealTime Support can set that up for the district.

If the selected POS Station does not have an open Till, one will automatically be created when you click Continue.

Once you begin serving, the program will add transactions to the expected cash and check totals until you are ready to close and count your Till.

4. Choose to Use ON-screen Keyboard if your device does not include a physical keyboard.

5. Click Continue to enter the POS Console.

6.  Using the POS Console requires local data storage in Chrome Web Browser. When entering POS Console, you may be prompted to Enable Storage in Chrome with the following message:

7. Navigate to the top left corner of Chrome browser tab or window and click Allow:

You may encounter a short Syncing Message. When complete, the POS Console is ready for meal service:

Before exploring the POS Console sales screen, make note of the information and icons at the top of the page:

  • User displays the currently logged in User.

  • Station displays the POS Station that you have chosen for service.

  • Serving displays the specific meal service you have chosen, such as Breakfast, Lunch or Snack.

  • Count Till is used at the end of day or after each meal service to count the money in the till. At what interval you count the till is up to you, however, tills are usually counted once each day at the end of day to make reconciling easier.

  • Settings is used to select or change the POS Station or Serving Period as shown in step 3 above.

  • Sign Out is used to exit MealTime completely.

  • Return is used to exit POS Console and return to Mealtime. If you have launched POS Console in Cashier Kiosk mode, the link is labeled Exit and will exit you completely from Chrome.
