A la carte offerings in the MealTime application are menu items priced and sold separately from standard reimbursable meals, such as breakfast bars, juice boxes and pizza slices. The A La Carte page allows you to create a la carte offerings, set pricing and enable diet restrictions to alert cashiers when using the POS Console for service.

Because Diet Restrictions are components of A La Carte offerings, it's recommended to create or modify those first. Once an a la carte offering has been created, it can be edited but cannot be removed from MealTime.

-> Go To: Point of Sale > SETTINGS > Meals and Food Items > A La Carte

Add or Edit an A La Carte offering

1. Select the a la carte offering you want to edit from the list/search window and click Edit or, click the Add button to create a new offering.

2. Enter the *A La Carte Name.

3. Enter the A La Carte Description

4. Set a *Price for the offering.
Since a la carte offerings are not reimbursable, they are priced the same for all grades and price groups.

5. If sales tax is required to be added at the time of sale, check the Sales Tax box.
Note! In some cases, school districts charge sales tax separately for adult meals and a la carte items. Check with your district before enabling this function.

6. For weighed and bulk a la carte offerings, check the box for Price When Served. This will prompt the cashier to enter a price for the offering at the time of service instead of using the set price.

7. Select the Diet Restrictions that apply to the a la carte offering by checking the appropriate boxes.
When Diet Restrictions are associated with an offering, an alert message will be presented to the cashier when serving the item to a customer with enabled diet restrictions. These can be enabled individually on the Customer Information page or via import.

8. Click Save to save the offering or Cancel to cancel a la carte offering creation.
