Meals in the MealTime application refer to the standard meal categories used in schools, such as Breakfast and Lunch. The Meals page allows you to create meals, set individual prices for meals per price group and enable diet restrictions to alert cashiers when using the POS Console for service.

Because Price Groups and Diet Restrictions are components of Meals, it's recommended to create or modify those first. Once a meal has been created, it can be edited but cannot be removed from MealTime.

-> Go To: Point of Sale > SETTINGS > Meals and Food Items > Meals

Add or Edit Meals

1. Select the meal you want to edit from the Search window or click the Add button to create a new meal.

2. Enter a *Meal Name.

3. Select a *Meal Category.
Options are: Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, Special Milk, Dinner or Other.
Meal categories are used in the State Reimbursement Claim report and are thus pre-defined and cannot be changed.

4. Enter a Meal Description or use the default.

5. Enter Meal Pricing for each individual Price Group. Both a Regular Price and Seconds Price are required.
Note! For most districts and schools, the Seconds Price for Free and Reduced meals is the same as the Regular Price for Paid meals as second meals are not reimbursable.

Check the Sales Tax box ONLY IF required by your district.
Note! In most cases where sales tax is used, it is included in the price of the meal. In some cases, school districts charge sales tax separately for adult meals and a la carte items. Check with your district before enabling this function.

6. Select the Diet Restrictions that relate to the meal.
When Diet Restrictions are associated with a Meal, an alert message will be presented to the cashier when serving the meal to a customer with enabled diet restrictions. These must be enabled individually on the Customer Information page or via import.

7. Click Save to save your meal or Cancel to cancel meal creation.
